JOB OVERVIEW:

This position revolves around the provision of support in line with FMCNA’s guiding principles, customer service ideology, and compliance with all relevant regulatory and FMS policy stipulations. As a Charge Nurse, the individual will ensure high-quality patient care within budget-friendly clinical operations whilst adhering to all legal, compliance, and regulatory requirements and initiatives. They will oversee daily patient care and staff management, guaranteeing efficient outcomes based on safety and quality.

KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Offer consistent guidance, support and direction to the patient care team. This involves providing informal, ongoing feedback as well as formal inputs for annual performance reviews. Involvement in team staffing decisions including hiring, firing, and disciplinary actions will be necessary.
- Ensure adherence with the company and facility-approved policies and procedures as well as state and federal regulations.
- Approve or disapprove time or personnel scheduling changes in the absence of the Facility Administrator to maintain compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Participate in patient care plan meetings.
- Maintain, train, and orient current practices related to dialysis principles and techniques.
- Monitor and guide the patient care staff regarding their technique and adherence to facility policies.
- Promote OSHA programs for a secure and clean working environment.
- Maintain efficient shift operations ensuring safety and effectiveness.
- Conduct staff meetings with the Facility Administrator to inform patient care staff about operational changes or improvements.
- Monitor and supervise all patient care activities during dialysis and assist as needed.
- Administer appropriate medications to patients following the physician's orders.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and a resource for the team members.
- Participate in the completion of short and long-term care plans.
- Admit new patients according to the facility's established procedure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT:

The job involves desk work, constant interaction with patients, staff, and physicians, and usage of a personal computer. It might involve travel between assigned facilities and different community locations. Healthcare facilities often have moderate noise levels and controlled air temperature. The job may also involve exposure to infectious diseases or materials. It also requires passing the Ishihara's Color Blindness Test.

SUPERVISORY ROLE:

This position overlooks direct patient care staff, and the ward clerk as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

The applicant must be a graduate of an accredited nursing school (R.N.) and be registered and licensed to practice in the applicable state.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS NEEDED:

A minimum of 12 months of nursing experience is needed, including a 6-month specialized experience providing clinical nursing care to dialysis patients. Supervisory or management experience and certification in CPR would be beneficial. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
