POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Accountant is responsible for developing, implementing and/or maintaining a combination of generally accepted accounting systems. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing financial reports, journal entries, maintaining and reconciling ledger accounts and payroll, and providing record of assets, liabilities, and other financial transitions.

The Senior Accountant will be hired and supervised by the Director of Finance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

· Performing and overseeing basic accounting procedures (e.g. A/R, A/P, time billing, P/R, G/L, and tax payments).

· Reviewing payroll for the entire company.

· Preparing financial statements (e.g., monthly and quarterly financial reports, weekly cash flow forecasts to Executive Leadership Team) summarizing current and projected financial position.

· Responsible for managing month end and quarterly closing (e.g., journal entries, reconciliations, etc.).

· Analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts and investment transactions with preparing quarterly management reports.

· Assisting Director of Finance with annual financial and 403(b) audits and Form 990 by serving as company liaison with auditors/tax professionals.

· Preparing monthly budget-to-actuals for Programs and Grants.

· Collaborating with Program Directors to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, and accuracy of information.

· Communicating with customers to address any past due invoices on their account.

· Producing financial data for the management team upon request and assisting with other special accounting projects as needed.

· Preparing and analyzing monthly budget-to-actuals for the G&A budget.

· Ensuring all active projects are covered by valid, binding contracts.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

· Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred.

· 3+ years progressive nonprofit accounting experience required.

· Strong organization, oral and written communication skills.

· Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word as well as experience with cloud-based accounting software and general ledgers.

· Analytical skills with particular attention to detail.

· Exhibit extraordinary discretion, flexibility, and willingness to work closely with our senior management team.

· Ability to handle multiple, high-leverage partner relationships in execution of overall organization strategy.
