POSITION PURPOSE

The Buyer II will be responsible for $3 to $8 million in annual expenditures in assigned commodities. Procure commodities such as major machined parts, castings, and mechanical assemblies to include program management of subcontracted assemblies and highly engineered technical products. Position will involve sub-contract management of Government/DOD related sub-contracts and extensive supplier oversight to include DCMA delegation coordination and tracking.

This person shall trouble shoot, problem solve, coordinate and drive resolution of selected internal and external related problems and issues related to the assigned commodities.

Buyer II has the following key tasks and responsibilities:
  • Responsibilities include pulling requirements from MRP report, quote and procure large volume of parts. Incumbent will work from drawings, specifications, custom reports, e-mails and other sources of information and make sure that the order requirements are properly approved prior to commitment.
  • Actively participates in daily stand up meetings that support production, shipments and other procurement related activities.
  • Individual will review, analyze and manage purchase orders, subcontract agreements, terms and conditions. Identify and share business risks with Supply Chain and Program Management. Will seek legal counsel from Supply Chain Management where necessary.
  • Monitor and manage purchase orders, subcontract performance to achieve expected results and customer satisfaction. Track and report progress on assignments, initiatives and projects to Supply Chain Management as assigned.
  • The incumbent will communicate and enforce customer/quality 'flow down' requirements. Will coordinate and track the return, rework, repair and exchange of defective materials and will issue requests for corrective action and follows up on corrective action responses.
  • Will participate in competitive bidding, evaluate and analyze supplier quotations, striving for positive cost saving/cost out results. Meet or beat negotiation objectives /targets with suppliers, documenting the results of negotiation(s).
  • Buyer II may participate in cross-functional teams that are chartered with improving supplier oversight and performance to include driving continuous improvement through the supply base.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate with internal customers and external suppliers at all levels throughout the supply chain to provide appropriate support, resolve issues to assure achievement of company goals and objectives.
  • Expedite assignments and projects and drive for results throughout the supply chain.
  • Will be expected to visit supplier facilities as necessary for status, follow-up on and expedite orders, resolve issues and problems. Will participate with supply chain management cross function team in development of new sources of supply and incumbent supplier improvements.
  • May participate in licensor/adoption selected projects


Job Requirements:

A successful candidate must have/be:
  • Requires a bachelor's degree (or equivalent work experience) in business with a
  • Minimum of 6 years experience in aerospace related procurement and planning.
  • Experience in the management of Government/DOD related purchase orders, sub-contracts whether at a major supplier or working for the government. C.P.M or C.P.I.M. is a plus.
  • Basic understanding of various departments within the supply chain, in particular, Customer Service, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations/Planning/Logistics, Manufacturing, Quality and Purchasing.
  • Read and understand blueprints and specifications.
  • Schedule and time management.
  • Communications management.
  • Individual should be proficient in effectively working with ERP/MRP systems, to include hands on understanding of demand and supply.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.


Compensation Pay Range

$70-80K
