Responsibilities

Basic Purpose

Provides support for the Customer Programs and Services (CP&S) organization with solutions to data base related needs to help communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way through data presentation and visualization. Leverages large quantities of data to inform long term risk analysis and aid in decision making. Works with the Customer Operations organization teams to develop tools and analysis in support of data-driven business decisions. Analyzes business processes and develops data base solutions to best support business needs. Researches and recommends technology-based solutions to business related challenges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Conducts research studies and technical analyses in areas of specialized data science to support company objectives and enable data-driven business decisions within the Customer Operations organization.
Develops detailed computational analysis, including data science, computer modeling, and scripting and tool development, and integrates methods and products within and across company software products. Establishes scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analysis, model development, model validation, and model implementation.


Provides technical expertise in data science to support functions such as Customer Satisfaction research within the Customer Operations organization. Evaluates operational metrics reporting and data access, provides systematic solutions, and leads the implementation of process improvement.


Leads or collaborates on data science projects, processes, or systems over the life cycle of the project, including project identification, scope development, implementation, and long-term operations and maintenance.


Works cross-functionally to develop and implement data science and governance standards and processes. Optimizes databases within the Customer Operations organization for efficient operation. Applies technical and business knowledge, skills, and judgment to problem solve data acquisition and analysis.


Serves as the department support in the discipline and provides authoritative consultation and recommendations to senior management.

Provides leadership to develop data literacy and scripting knowledge across the team.

Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes, and regulations applicable to position and company.


Performs related duties as assigned.

Requirements

Essential Education, Skills, and Environment

Education and Work Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in computer science, analytics, data science, or math and 1 year of experience in a power/utility/energy industry or related profession, including experience performing highly technical work of a specialized nature. Recent experience working with Python (or related language) and associated libraries for machine learning.

Candidates that do not possess a bachelor’s degree must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in a power/utility/energy industry or related profession, with a minimum of 1 years of recent experience working with Python (or related language) and associated libraries for machine learning.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

Demonstrated knowledge:

  • Technical writing skills.
  • Industry best practices for data science and data governance.
  • Construct and optimize SQL queries.
  • Python (or related language) and associated libraries for machine learning

Demonstrated skills such as:

  • Detail oriented, human relations, time management, communication, decision-making, presentation, interpersonal and organizational.
  • Intermediate technical writing skills and ability to communicate complex data in a simple, actionable way through visualizations.
  • Demonstrated teamwork and/or project management skills.

    Equipment and Applications
    PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.

    Work Environment and Physical Demands
    General office environment. No special physical demands required.

Compensation

Annual Salary: $87,600 (Min) to $103,100 (Mid); Up to 12% Short Term Incentive Plan target opportunity at the discretion of the company. This is a non-represented position.
