Job Description

We are looking for a Chemist to join the prepare and analyze samples. This position will be full-time and onsite.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepare and analyze samples (urine, serum/blood, etc.) for opioids and other novel psychoactive substances

  • Perform highly complex chemical analysis on environmental, food, or clinical matrices to determine the level of contaminants or toxic substances using sophisticated instrumentation in compliance with EPA, FDA, or CUA requirements

  • Adhere to Quality Assurance guidelines

  • Maintain proficiency and technical expertise by passing Proficiency Testing (PT) samples

  • Maintain assigned instrumentation in working order; perform preventative maintenance and repair on laboratory equipment

  • Complete all required paperwork; maintain instrument logbook, prepare technical reports, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs)

  • Maintain a safe and uncluttered work area

  • Train and cross-train on other analytical procedures within the laboratory

  • Assist the supervisor by performing related tasks as assigned

What You'll Need

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Physical Science from an accredited college or university

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an analytical chemist

  • Broad knowledge of principles and practices of analytical, organic, and inorganic chemistry with subsequent experience during the last 2 years

  • Prior working experience analyzing syringe residue/urine for opioids and other drugs of abuse using a Sciex LC/QTOF, LC/MS/MS, or an Agilent GC/MS/MS

  • Extensive knowledge of appropriate state and federal laws, rules, regulations, and policies relative to the specialty area such as EPA, FDA, DEA, ISO 17025, CUA

  • Broad knowledge of good laboratory practices (GLP) and good automated laboratory practices (GALP)

  • Ability to communicate effectively with others both within and outside of the laboratory

  • Prior working experience with GC-MS, LC-MS/MS, and proficient use of the same for qualitative and quantitative analysis

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Sciex equipment such as QTRAP 6500+ and X500QTOF

Physical Demands

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards

  • Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.

  • Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor
