JOB SUMMARY

This position is primarily responsible for conducting project management activities for Barge Repair involving routine and major repair jobs with the following objectives:
  • Perform Repair project bidding/estimations with budgetary responsibility.
  • Perform Barge Repair (Routines and Majors) project planning & scheduling activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect vessels and develop Repair bids and estimates.
  • Manage all aspects of Repair (Routines and Majors) projects.
  • Develop project plans & schedules, work orders, material requisitions as required.
  • Track and execute change orders and project scope changes as required.
  • Track project costs and develop final invoices.
  • Develop and maintain historical information on projects.
  • Assist Yard Manager with project planning and execution.
  • Coordinate with Operations Supervisors to ensure successful execution of projects.
  • Work with the on-site Customer representatives to ensure successful project execution.
  • Participate as a responsible “Duty Man” as required by schedule.
  • Develop and maintain good Customer relationships.
  • Maintain excellent communications with all levels of Management and Customers.

Education, Experience, and Training:

  • BS in Engineering / Technical discipline preferred.
  • Five (5) years of related Project Management or Production Management experience desired.
  • Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with proficiency in English.

Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must have good judgment skills and a high-level work initiative.
  • Must be able to work independently, without direct supervision and as part of a team.
  • Must have strong analytical skills and ability to interface with Customers and all management levels.
  • Able to understand and abide by all company rules, policies and procedures.
  • Develop a working knowledge of company Quality, Environmental and Safety program requirements and enforce adherence to program elements.
  • Must be an expert in MS Office & Internet and AutoCAD and MS–Project applications.

Physical/Environmental Requirements:

  • Barge chemical environment requires prolonged kneeling, standing, walking, twisting, climbing, and the ability to lift and carry in access of 120 lbs, assisted.
  • Ability to work in varied conditions (i.e.: heat, cold, rain, ice, snow, etc.), inside and outside.
  • Ability to work in confined space/heights and operate equipment safely and efficiently.
