Job Summary

Position responsible for performing Electrocardiograms, Holter monitoring, Holter scanning and Stress Testing according to physician orders. Identified role to provide designated support to department leadership based on size of department. This position serves as the Lead Non-Invasive Cardiac Technician and is a designated resource/mentor to staff and less experienced technologist.

The hours for this position are Friday-Sunday (6:00pm-6:30am).Job Description

Shift Details:

Overnight Friday through Sunday, 12-hour shifts

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Associate's degree in Allied Health Sciences or the equivalent combination of training and experience as a Cardiology Technicianand completion of the Basic Arrhythmia Course.

Licenses/Certifications: Certified by the American Hospital Association in BCLS.

Experience / Knowledge / Skills:

  • Four (4) years of experience performing Electrocardiograms (ECG), Holter monitoring, Holter scanning, and related Cardiac Stress Testing procedures.


Principal Accountabilities
  • Prepares patients for Electrocardiogram, Holter monitor, and/or Stress Test exams and explains procedure and ensures technical quality.
  • Can manage multi-patient task list and prioritize appropriately.
  • Helps maintain appropriate patient flow and ensures delivery of quality services within the department. Assists with schedules and participates in committees, etc.
  • Handles situations that require expertise, leadership, and problem-solving.
  • Performs other supervisory/lead related duties as directed.
  • Reports any accidents, complaints or equipment malfunction to the supervisor/manager.
  • Responds to all Code Blue calls as part of the resuscitation team per facility requirements. Prepares and presents ECG tracings to physicians for interpretation as per hospital process.
  • Review ECG tracing and alerts proper medical personnel of patients with serious arrhythmias.
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service skills and escalates issues appropriately.
  • Acts as a designated resource and mentor to staff and less experienced technologists. Introduces and demonstrates new techniques to the other technologists. Responsible for orientation/mentoring for new hires or education for students.
  • Responsible for supply management.
  • Maintains safety, environmental, and infection control procedures for the department.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities established by the department.
  • Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
  • Promotes individual and professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competencies; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization.
