Registered Nurse (RN) - Operating Room


We are searching for a Registered Nurse for our Operating Room - someone who works well in a fast-paced setting. In this position, you will provide nursing care to patients having a diagnostic imaging study, ensuring patient comfort and safety while collaborating with the department to optimize patient throughput.Think you've got what it takes?* Open to take call* Critical thinking skills* Interdisciplinary collaboration experienceOur large state-of-the-art operating rooms are designed for multi-disciplinary cases requiring large surgical teams and operations using cutting edge medical equipment. One of the operating suites also includes an intraoperative MRI specifically designed for the safety of our neurosurgical patients. More than 3,000 surgical procedures are completed each year including some of the most complex transplant, neurological and trauma cases."As part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards. "Minimum Qualifications:* Associate's degree or technical diploma in nursing, or current enrollment in a nursing bridge program* BSN preferred* Current licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas or Nurse Licensure Compact* BLS certification with American Heart Association* PALS, ACLS preferred* One (1) year of professional nursing experience* Operating Room experience highly preferred* Circulating experience preferredKnowledge and Skills* Ability to demonstrate positive and appropriate interpersonal skills* Demonstrate good time and resource management skills* Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills* Operate unit specific equipmentResponsibilities:* Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family including biophysical, psychosocial, developmental ( age - appropriate), culture, spiritual, and environmental needs in an organized and systematic manner.* Analyzes situations, anticipates potential problem, and detects changes in patient status* Re-prioritizes and updates plan of care based on new information and changes to the patient's condition; communicates this information to other health care team members and documents in the medical record.* Participates in interdisciplinary rounds and/or patient care conferences and documents in the medical record* Assists patients/family in implementing their role in the plan of care as appropriate* Assess patient family learning needs capabilities, preferences, and readiness to learn prior to teaching.* Demonstrates positive and effective interpersonal skills when dealing with patients/families, visitors, peers, and other health care team members.* Administers and documents medications and treatments in a timely manner.* Demonstrates willingness and ability to acquire new knowledge and utilize new skills needed to improve individual, team, and organizational performance.* Participate in unit performance improvement initiatives.
