Registered Nurse Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR)


We are searching for a full-time, Inpatient Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Operating Room! Someone who works well in a fast-paced hospital setting. In this position you'll provide quality nursing care to patients by assessing, planning, educating, implementing, and evaluating age appropriate care in a manner that incorporates family centered principles and cost effective care. We need someone who can collect and analyze data from the medical record in order to coordinate patient care.Texas Children's Heart Center - ranked #1 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report in cardiology and heart surgery. Come be part of our team!Qualifications:Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Associate Degree in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing with acceptance or current enrollment in a BSN program and signed agreementCurrent licensure with the Board of Nursing for the State of Texas Knowledge of the principals of biological, physical, and social scienceBLS - Cert-Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)1 year of professional nursing experience required1 year of Operating Room experience highly preferredAs part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.Responsibilities:Performs and documents assessment of the patient/family including bio-physical, psychosocial, developmental (age-appropriate), cultural, spiritual, and environmental needs in an organized and systematic mannerAnalyzes situations, anticipates potential problem, and detects changes in patient statusInvolves patient/family in the patient's plan of careImplements high quality, cost effective patient care in conjunction with the patient/familyEvaluates and documents patient's response to the care provided and recognizes the patient's progress toward meeting the desired outcomes and discusses with the patient/familyEducates patient and family Assesses patient/family learning needs, capabilities, preferences, and readiness to learn prior to teachingDemonstrates commitment to team, flexibility, professional interpersonal, communication, critical thinking, and customer service skillsAccountable for managing time and resources in a cost-effective mannerAccountable for maintaining professional development of self and participates in development of othersParticipates in achieving hospital/ unit goals
