Overview

RES is seeking a Project Manager I with 2+ years of experience to assist with the facilitation of projects, ensuring timely execution through organization of project components and completion within budget. This position is based out of our Houston, TX office.

The mission: The Project Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination and/or oversight of each project and will report project progress, issues, and concerns to the senior level project manager. It is expected that the PM I will be able to attend site meetings and coordinate with the onsite inspectors, visitors, and other parties associated with the project as a part of their daily duties. The successful candidate will have the skills and abilities to build relationships with contractors, consultants, and clients by responding to requests and communicating information in a timely manner. Should project issues arise the PM will coordinate with the senior level project manager for guidance and issue resolution.

We are looking for a goal oriented and detailed individual with good communication skills who enjoys collaboration with interdisciplinary teams within RES including the Regulatory, Design, Ecology, Land, and Construction groups. You will also represent RES before the community and have the ability to drive a project from conception to successful completion under the guidance of a senior level project manager. This individual would be able to learn and grow in the Project Management group and take on projects with more complexity over time.


Responsibilities

Project and Contractor Oversight:

  • Manage the planning and execution of RES projects through all phases of project development, including preliminary site investigations and data collection, wetland/stream delineations, habitat assessments, topographic and utility surveys, design, permit preparation and submittal, agency review and meetings, construction, maintenance, and monitoring field work and reporting.
  • Communicate with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Review and manage the project budget – comparing percent completion of projects to actual spend and remaining budgets.

Field Work and Operations:

  • Evaluate potential restoration sites based on regulatory and technical requirements and constraints.
  • Perform site visits to oversee internal crews and subcontractors to ensure work meets project specifications.
  • Perform all aspects of project QA/QC.

Opportunity Pursuits:

  • Assist the sales team with technical support throughout the sales process.
  • Assist in the development of project budgets.

Administrative and Logistical Tasks:

  • Vendor setup, POs, and AP approvals: Setting up vendors and managing purchase orders and accounts payable approvals.
  • Materials ordering and staging: Coordinating materials ordering and staging as per bid or in coordination with the site superintendent.
  • Documentation of the project paperwork: Maintaining job books, construction logs, and other necessary documentation.
  • Timesheet review: Coordinating approvals through construction operations and delivering Truck & Equipment weekly reports with construction operations.
  • Project submittals: Managing and submitting project documentation as required.

Qualifications

We would love to talk to you if you have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in applied sciences, construction management, or similar field
  • 2+ years of progressive experience in an applied-sciences, engineering or construction field
  • Strong skills in verbal and written communication and an ability to work well with a diverse group of project professionals
  • Experience working with timeframes and difficult conditions to get job completed
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Experience with ecological restoration projects, Heavy/Civil site stabilization, or large and complex landscaping installations

What will make you stand out?

  • Exposure to environmental restoration design, natural resource evaluation and permitting, and mitigation plan development
  • Experience using project management software and a working knowledge of basic accounting principles
  • Proficient in ArcGIS or CAD
  • Demonstrated experience in planning, scheduling, and executing a full range of project tasks on schedule and on budget for a variety of complex projects
  • Demonstrated experience in estimating and evaluating bids from subcontractors, and managing subcontractors
  • A natural curiosity and interest in learning about and helping preserve/ restore habitat for Texas wildlife and plants
  • Botanical, wildlife, and/or wetland/stream delineation related fieldwork in Texas, Oklahoma, or Louisiana
