Plains All American is an industry-leading transportation and midstream provider specializing in transportation, storage, processing and marketing solutions for crude oil and natural gas liquids (NGLs). We are looking for a Principal Architect, Platforms, to join our Enterprise Technology team and lead the planning & design of our critical applications and technology platforms.

As a Principal Architect, you will be responsible for engaging with a variety of stakeholders to ensure alignment between business and IT, adapting plans to changing business and operational needs. You will analyze trends and disruptions, assessing and communicating their impact on our intended business outcomes. You will be a visionary who can tell stories to visualize the future state and support long-term planning.

As part of the Enterprise Architecture team, you will oversee the creation of roadmaps, reference models and architectures, solution designs, and risk assessments. You will also coach and mentor other architects, product owners/managers, and business stakeholders to instill architectural thinking.

Responsibilities

Roadmap to Reality

  • Facilitate alignment between business and IT by understanding business strategies, objectives, and priorities, and translating them into IT strategies and roadmaps.
  • Adapt to changing business and operating models by assessing the current state, identifying gaps and opportunities, and recommending solutions.
  • Support various operating models (both project and product-centric) by providing architectural guidance, governance, and oversight.
  • Drive the evolution of the EA team's services and operating model through best practices, processes, and tools.

Storyteller

  • Analyze technology trends and assess their impact on our targeted business outcomes through research, benchmarking, and scenario planning.
  • Tell stories to visualize the future state and trigger long-term planning by presenting compelling visions, architectures, and roadmaps.
  • Communicate the value of enterprise architecture, and its portfolio of services by developing and delivering effective communication strategies, materials, and presentations.

Senior Technical Advisor

  • Engage with business and IT stakeholders, building and maintaining relationships, and collaborating on strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Provide expertise in designing and delivering critical applications and technology platforms, such as ERP, EAM, HRIS, cloud, integrations, and network.
  • Coach and mentor other architects, product owners/managers, and business stakeholders to instill architectural thinking by sharing knowledge, insights, and feedback.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 10 years of experience in IT, with at least 5 years of experience in enterprise architecture, solution architecture, or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, methodologies, and best practices, such as TOGAF, Zachman, or FEAF.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence and persuade senior executives and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to evaluate complex situations and scenarios.
  • Highly collaborative, team-oriented, and customer-focused, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across the organization.
  • Flexible, adaptable, and resilient, with the ability to embrace change and ambiguity.
  • Passionate, curious, and innovative, with the ability to learn and apply new technologies and trends.
  • Some travel between the USA and Canada will be required
  • Cleared criminal history (background) and satisfactory reference checks
  • Compliance with the Company’s drug and alcohol policy including pre-employment D&A testing.
