Job Summary

Ensures that gas volumes and related cost and revenue transactions of the Company's operations are accurately recorded, analyzed and reported in a timely, cost-effective manner and in compliance with regulatory, state and federal requirements. Develops reports, in compliance with standard reporting requirements, for internal and external parties.


Essential Functions

  • Ensures accurate recording of revenues and costs and resolves any errors in the transport counterparty, and customer reconciliation process; including entity set up or termination, transport rate reconciliation, confirming invoice payment amounts.
  • Reviews and verifies gas supply and transportation invoices to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies in the payment of vendor invoices.
  • Compares scheduled pipeline volumes to monthly transportation statements to ensure accuracy and coordinates between Scheduling and Trading to identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Obtains customer usage files each month from various pipelines/utilities to load, review, and process volumes through the system to ensure invoices are billed and accurate revenues recorded to the financials.
  • Verifies and reviews monthly storage statements to confirm the correct storage volumes have been documented and analyzes the volumes and related pricing to ensure accurate recording of costs and deferrals to the monthly statements.
  • Reconcile to identify volume and pricing issues, and work closely with Trading, Scheduling, and Actualization groups to resolve discrepancies.
  • Obtains and provides financial/statistical information or supporting test documentation to ensure compliance with SOX requirements
  • Analyses information and collects and cross-references supporting documentation to prepare/review A/R, A/P schedules, documents, reports. Prepares variance analysis and projections. Reconciles account activity and resolves discrepancies. Interprets and monitors corporate compliance with Regulatory/State and Federal requirements.
  • Creates updates and controls contents of business units’ various system files. Verifies system integrity and audits accuracy of system data.
  • Obtains or provides financial/statistical information (written or oral) as requested and prepares reports for internal and external auditors, various governmental agencies and other outside organizations.
  • Participates in project teams involved in the design, development, testing and implementation of automated systems, reengineering of processes or implementation of new requirements.
  • Develop and maintain strong customer relations by providing timely customer service to both internal and external customers daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Certification/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in economics, accounting, finance or general business.
  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years of full-time experience in gas accounting, revenue accounting or related gas industry experience or other business-related disciplines.

Additional Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics

  • Strong proficiency in full suite of Microsoft Office applications with an emphasis on Excel and the ability to write, improve, and repair complex formulas and workbooks.
  • Experience with Openlink Endur ETRM, Salesforce, and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central highly preferred.
  • Able to perform all aspects of work with a high degree of effectiveness, efficiency and accuracy to meet or exceed customer expectations
  • Able to demonstrate and apply a strong technical knowledge of accounting theory and principles and apply effectively.
  • Able to acquire and apply knowledge of requirements necessary to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
  • Able to demonstrate and apply proficiency in performing financial and statistical computations.
  • Able to demonstrate and apply effective written and oral communication proficiency with a wide range of audiences
  • Able to excel in conceptualizing and assimilating data quickly to make timely and accurate decisions and take appropriate action.

Physical Requirements

  • Able to effectively communicate orally and in writing, utilizing clear and concise language.
  • Able to perceive and understand verbal communication in person, as well as over communication devices such as telephone or mobile phone.
  • Able to visually perceive information on a personal computer monitor or laptop screen for extended periods of time.
  • Capable of operating a personal computer, whether it is a desktop or laptop, for extended periods of time to create, compose, and review documents and spreadsheets.
  • Competent in operating office equipment, including but not limited to telephones, mobile phones, photocopiers, scanners, and calculators.
  • Able to reach, grasp, and manipulate items necessary to perform job tasks.
  • Able to remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time as required by job responsibilities.
  • Proficient in speaking, reading, and comprehending the English language.
  • Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.

Working Conditions

  • Able to work in a fast-paced office environment with a high-volume workload, including the possibility of working beyond standard hours and on nights/weekends to meet deadlines.
  • Able to work indoors, in an office environment, regardless of whether it is an open office, cubicle or private office.
  • Able to travel occasionally, possibly overnight, and to attend meetings and conferences, when required.
