Job Title: Operations Manager

Location: LaPorte TX

Job Summary: daily supervision of the LaPorte site production units resulting in safe and efficient operation, while producing on quality product, in a timely cost-efficient manner.
Responsibilities:

  • Management of all aspects of unit operations in compliance with established health, safety and environmental policies, procedures, permits and regulatory requirements
  • Meeting or exceeding performance standards of the operating areas including production rate, on-stream time, and raw material efficiency
  • Meeting or exceeding quality specifications for manufactured products
  • Prioritization and resolution of manufacturing difficulties (process or mechanical)
  • Continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability and responsiveness to the customer
  • Control of working capital and the promotion of inventory control principles
  • Maintaining records pertinent to unit operations, preparing regular performance reports, communicating throughout the organization, and convening regular meetings with operating personnel
  • Control of finished goods including satisfactory delivery to the customer
  • Control of operating costs
  • Selection of new personnel, performance appraisals, and disciplinary action
  • Maintaining a safe and orderly workplace
  • Development and training of engineers, supervisory personnel, and operators
  • Advance and maintain all necessary systems that support the operation
  • New product and technology implementation
  • Emergency response duties to include:
    1. planning, coordinating, and executing emergency response team readiness exercises and drills. Ops chief during incident response
    2. planning, coordinating, and executing confined space rescue team readiness exercises and drills. Team lead for confined space rescue with pro-board certification expectation.
    3. fire response readiness including coordination of fire school activities and fire response gear

Education and/or Experience
  • An engineering bachelor’s degree is required (preferably Chemical Engineering)
  • Minimum of 10 years of chemical plant manufacturing experience required, including supervision of production, engineering, and maintenance personnel.
  • Project Management supervision, including start up and commissioning efforts for new processes and new equipment.
  • In-depth understanding of chemical plant operations is required.
  • Direct experience with PSM/RMP covered processes is required, including participation in Process Hazard Analyses, Management of Change and Pre-Startup Safety Reviews.
  • Advanced experience in management and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated record of achieving cost efficiency.

  • Experience with reading prints, schematics, drawings and repair manuals.
