Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Performs job duties in a safe manner and according to company safety procedures.
  • Reports potential safety hazards to supervisor immediately and actively participates in resolutions.
  • Work directly under the supervision of a qualified Millwright
  • Assist in installing and aligning rotating equipment such as compressors, generators and pumps with a variety of drivers such as electric motors, pneumatic motors, gas and diesel engines within manufacturer's specified tolerances.
  • Assist with Aligning gears, pulleys and other belt driven equipment within manufacturer's specified tolerances.
  • Helps perform piston clearance checks, piston rod run out checks and balance verifications on rotating a variety of rotating equipment.
  • Learn to measure web deflections, mounting feet deflections and magnetic shaft centers.
  • Installs machine guards, personnel and equipment protection devices on rotating equipment.
  • Performs task associated to assembly, disassembly of skid mounted components in a shop environment including but not limited to vessels, pipe, pipe supports and structural supports.
  • Help perform pneumatic and mechanical tests on assembled components.
  • Disassembles components to replace defective parts or to prepare them for shipping.
  • Ability to use specialty machinist tools, such as calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, thickness gauges and thread pitch gauges.
  • Operate various pneumatically driven machine torquing devices.
  • Operates portable hand, electric and air powered tools such as impact wrenches, torque wrenches, combination wrenches, sockets, ratchets, band saw and grinders.
  • Operates lifting equipment such as overhead cranes, jib cranes with special knowledge of safe rigging practices for heavy equipment.
  • Learn to read manufacturers balance and lubrication specifications, shop notes, general arrangement, process flow diagrams and drawings.
  • Records serial numbers and other pertinent information as required in ITP (inspection test plan).

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments and workers.

• Effectively follows oral and written instructions and communicates them to others as needed.
  • Reports problems to line supervisor and actively participates in resolutions.


Experience:
  • 1 - 2 years' experience in compression related assembly or field environment.

Skills:
  • Strong mathematic aptitude with the ability to add and subtract fractions, decimals and whole numbers.
  • Ability to learn to read drawings to determine work procedures.
  • Ability to read tape measures, rulers, caliper and various leveling devices and machinist tools in increments of .001"
  • Must have knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the assembly department.
  • Must be familiar with Safety and OSHA requirements.


Mental Power: relies on instructions in terms of what and how work is to be done, as well as why it is done, within established policies and procedures.

Physical Power: Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work involves frequent lifting of materials and product up to 30 pounds. Machinery operation requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to; approved eye protection, hearing protection, and steel toe safety work boots.
