INVISTA Houston Chemical Plant is seeking a Millwright to join our industry-leading team.

Our Team

Join INVISTA Houston as a Millwright where you'll be responsible for equipment repairs, the development of repair scopes, and improvements to increase equipment availability. We'll lean on you to support various rotating and fixed equipment in the Precision Shop. As well, as provide precision maintenance support to maintain equipment inside and outside of a chemical plant environment.

What You Will Do

  • Maintain stewardship of the equipment
  • Maintain a quality mindset
  • Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures
  • Install industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to drawings
  • Perform alignments between pieces of rotating machinery and hold tolerances during assembly
  • Troubleshoot machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions
  • Repair or replace defective parts on equipment
  • Ensure SIS functions properly on completion of repairs, modifications, and installations.
  • Implement PM program on plant machinery, cleaning, lubricating, and performing other routine maintenance work
  • Keep detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation
  • Maintain a clean and environmentally safe work area
  • Personify the safety culture of the plant
  • Perform other related duties as assigned


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Minimum 4 years of industry work experience, or relevant military experience
  • Working knowledge of plant safety standards, permitting processes, etc.
  • Experience with aeroderivative gas turbine
  • Must have legal authorization to work permanently in the United States for any employer without requiring a visa transfer or visa sponsorship


Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work a 10-hour day shift. The work schedule is subject to change with notification, depending on business needs. Additionally, must be available to work scheduled (planned) or unscheduled (unplanned/short-notice hours on nights and/or weekends, holidays as needed), to meet business needs
  • Required to wear the following PPE: safety glasses, hearing protection, goggles, hard hats, FRC, acid suits, breathing air, gloves, safety boots, respirators, ACR Flash suits, and encapsulated suits. PPE use is in accordance with the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) for a given task
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and inclement climate conditions
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces with supplied breathing air and congested areas
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, ladders on vessels and columns, and ladders associated with scaffolds in excess of 80 feet
