Job Description

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Setup and operate Manual Lathe with little assistance.
  • Validate work instructions before machining to assure accuracy of operations.
  • The ability to be flexible / adaptable to work on CNC machines / manual machines.
  • Detect malfunctions or out of tolerance machining and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
  • Document actions by completing work order routings.
  • Work as a team player with others in a demanding fast-paced environment to meet frequently changing production.
  • 100% inspections to ensure dimensional and surface finish requirements are met for all parts machined.
  • Comply with all NOV Health Safety Environmental (HSE), HR, & Quality polices & procedures.
  • Required PPE safety eye protection, steel toe boots, and hard hat at all times.
  • Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly and perform basic preventative maintenance.
  • Must have a high standard of quality by minimizing scrap rate.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Must be familiar with precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, thread gauges, etc.
  • Load parts utilizing overhead lifting equipment if needed, operating controls, setting offsets, simple edits, deburring.
  • Facilitate objectives for Safety, Quality, Innovation, and Cost - seek opportunities to provide feedback on process improvements, cost savings, and opportunities to work more efficiently and/or safely.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
  • 3-5+ years machining experience, Manual Lathe experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience setting up and operating computer and mechanically controlled machine tools such as CNC Machines, grinder, drill press, hydraulic press, etc.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Vocational education (commercial or shop training; technical school)


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ability to adapt to change.
  • Willingness to take on responsibilities and challenges.
  • Experience with Conversational Programming.
  • Ability to accept of feedback and deal calmly and effectively with stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of mills a plus.
  • Operate a small LP forklift.
  • Operate raw stock horizontal band saw.
  • Good work ethic and flexibility to work overtime when needed.
  • Ability to transition over to CNC eventually.
