Job Summary and Qualifications

The Echo Technician knows the meaning of medical prescriptions pertaining to Echocardiography. Technician transports patients, distributes final reports, and maintains data management system for tests. Perform Echoes, imaging, dobutamine tests, bubble studies and other cardiology procedures as assigned. Echo services are available 24hrs a day, 7 days a week, and communicates effectively with other members of the department as well as other departments throughout the facility.

What you will do in this role:

  • Ensure all images are of quality and documentation supports the billing of procedures
  • Manages scheduling of staff for cases in the out-patient, in-patient, surgery, structural heart and electrophysiology areas
  • Manages inventory and integrity of all scopes and equipment
  • Responsible for gathering and calculating quantitative and qualitative data, which will aid the MD in making diagnosis
  • Ensures education to staff for clinical trial studies
  • Facilitates Echocardiography Accreditation for the facility
  • Ensure policy and procedures are accurate and consistent with regulatory standards
  • Demonstrates competency in pulse characteristics, pulse repetition frequency, pulse repetition period, and spatial pulse length.
  • Demonstrates competency in technical factors for diagnostic quality images, focal zone, depth, amplitude dynamic range and compression, analog-to-digital converter (ADC), digital-to-analog converter (DAC), brightness, contrast.
  • Demonstrates competency in various display modes, real-time imaging, and echogenicity of reflectors, echo textures, and artifacts.
  • Responsible for managing department to include, billing/charging/payroll and Kronos time.
  • Demonstrates accuracy in Meditech training by: sending work request, display and printing a variety of reports.
  • Demonstrates competency with critical behaviors and age specific care.
  • Demonstrates appropriate equipment disinfection between patients.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Graduate from accredited school in Imaging Services/Echo
  • Current ARDMS or CCI Registry required
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
