Accountabilities

As the Director of FP&A, you will collaborate closely with the VP of FP&A and other senior leaders, playing a crucial role in decision support and business partnership. You will work across departments and functional groups to deliver essential metrics, forecasts, variance analyses, and business insights. Reporting directly to the VP of FP&A, you will lead a team of 2-3 skilled finance professionals. Your responsibilities will include providing advanced modelling and analytical support for business planning, deal execution, strategic projects, and other key initiatives critical to the organization’s success.

  • Budgeting and Planning: Oversee the operating group level budgeting and planning processes and models in Anaplan. Collaborate with the Director of Corporate FP&A on overall budget and planning strategies.
  • Variance and Trend Analysis: Lead variance analysis for Actual vs. Forecast (AvF) and Forecast vs. Forecast (FvF). Conduct comprehensive trend analyses to support financial insights.
  • Business Partnership: Generate short-term forecasts for each operating group and drive discussions with leadership to develop long-term forecasts and assess sensitivities.
  • Anaplan Management: Develop and shape the long-term vision for our enterprise performance management tool and models in Anaplan.
  • Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements for systems, reports, and models. Transition from Excel-based models to an integrated systems approach, and pinpoint necessary upstream IT and data enhancements.
  • Team Leadership: Manage and mentor professional FP&A staff to ensure efficient support for stakeholders.
  • Decision Support and Project Management:
    1. Build financial models and business cases to support investment decisions.
    2. Collaborate with Sales and Supply to manage the process for new deal approvals.
    3. Prepare business cases for special or complex transactions.
    4. Quantify the financial impact of value-creating opportunities and ensure successful delivery.
    5. Oversee the execution of special commercial initiatives.
    6. Conduct ad-hoc business analyses, develop financial models, and create presentations to drive recommendations to senior management on strategic decisions and future initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 10-15 years of experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or similar concentration
  • MBA, CFA or equivalent, preferred
  • Expert knowledge of Corporate Finance and its application to wholesale and retail energy markets
  • Strong understanding of the relationship between Accounting and Finance
  • Experience designing and implementing financial models and turning models into actionable insight
  • Proven ability to develop strategic relationships with business partners
  • Ability to work independently, readily adapt to and lead through changing environment
  • Ability to lead a team and influence broader organization
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills required
  • Experience with Endur, MS Dynamics, and Tableau, preferred
