Purpose and Scope:

The role supports FMCNA's mission, vision, and core values with adherence to FMCNA Compliance Program and other regulatory and company policy requirements.

Your responsibilities will include being part of the hemodialysis healthcare team, providing dialysis therapy to assigned patients under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. You'll participate in the implementation and evaluation of patient care, report and document all new and unusual incidents, and actively promote a safe and clean work environment.

Duties / Activities:

Customer Service Responsibilities:

- Upholding FMCNA's culture and customer service standards.

- Outstanding customer service for all external and internal customers.

- Establishment and maintenance of effective and timely communication.

- Responsibility and initiative in resolving customer service issues.

Principal responsibilities and duties:

Patient-related:

- Direct patient care for assigned patients.

- Performing all technical aspects of dialysis procedures as prescribed.

- Monitoring and documenting dialysis treatment on flow sheets, and other patient care information.

- Reporting any significant information, change in patient condition, or equipment problems to the supervisor.

- Developing and following a teaching plan to educate the patient and family regarding end-stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet, and medications.

- Assisting with all emergency operational procedures.

- Administering intravenous medication as per physician’s orders and state nurse practice laws.

- Documentation of pre, interim, and post-treatment review of patient's conditions.

- Basic CPR measures initiation in the event of cardiac and/or pulmonary arrest, and responding to emergency situations related to dialysis treatment.

Staff-related:

- Participation in scheduled staff meetings.

- Assistance in short-term and long-term patient care plan meetings.

- Acquiring information and knowledge in current practice related to dialysis principles and techniques.

- Acting as a resource person for other staff members.

- Assistance with the coordination of the care plan with Physicians, Dietitians, and Social Workers.

The role requires:

A graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN, LVN), current appropriate State licensure, one year of medical-surgical nursing experience, ideally (but is not essential) with hemodialysis or ICU experience. You will need to successfully complete a training course in the theory and practice of hemodialysis, CPR Certification, Nurses Technical Training Program upon hire, or soon thereafter and have the ability to provide coverage at area facilities during times of short-staffing or as required. Good communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
