Position Summary

Join our dynamic team as a Avionics Network Engineer and become a vital contributor to support NASA as an Oceaneering Teammate on the JSC Engineering, Technology, and Science (JETS) II contract. As an integral part of our organization, you'll play a crucial role in the Software Engineering section in the Engineering Department on the NASA JSC Engineering, Technology and Science II (JETS II) Contract.

Someone in this role would typically have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and a minimum of two (2) years of related experience. This position can be hired at any level in our professional career framework, depending on business need at the time of hire.
**International travel may be required. Straight time overtime, 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), and/or 1 day of telework per week may be available**

Duties & Responsibilities

SOME OF YOUR MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

• Designing the distributed network architecture for the Gateway Modular Spacecraft.
• Performing Requirements Development and Management.
• Performing Verification Testing.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a closely related field and a minimum of two (2) years of experience.
• Experience with either Avionic Electrical or Software Systems Design.
• Experience with the following major spacecraft systems and disciplines:

o Propulsion.
o Thermal.
o ECLSS.
o Power.
o Electrical Systems.

• Thorough knowledge of Computer Networking technology, such as:

o IEEE 802.3 (Ethernet) standards.
o ARINC 664 Part 7 Aircraft Data Network -Full-Duplex Switched Ethernet Networks.
o SAE AS 6802 Time Triggered Standard.
o Internet Protocol Suite (IPS).
o Hardware Cabling Standards.

• Experience with:

o Network Design.
o Network Management Tools.
o IT Security.
o Network Troubleshooting Techniques.

• Familiarity with commercial products available in computer networking technology.
• Interpret network data captures, such as pcap files.

PREFERRED

• Time Triggered Ethernet (TTE) experience.
• Experience with Time Triggered systems such as TDMA.
• Fault tolerance/reliability experience.
• Experience with spacecraft avionics and circuit design or analysis.
• Experience applying computer network technology in space systems.

Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency maybe a requirement for this position.
Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
