ABOUT THE JOB:

The Clinical Informatics Educator provides educational expertise and systems knowledge to ensure staff competency in the area of informatics related to the electronic medical record and other technology that interfaces with care delivery. A core function is to consult and collaborate with stakeholders to design, develop, and execute training solutions to meet the initial and ongoing educational needs of physicians, APPs, nursing, and clinical staff as well as system changes/upgrades.

This is a full-time position working onsite, Monday through Friday. The position may require travel between both Dallas and Plano campuses as well as primary and specialty clinic sites across the DFW region.

Responsibilities:

* Physician and APP Onboarding: Onboards new physicians and APPs. Initial support includes 1:1 elbow support, EHR proficiency training, personalization sessions using Signal and Provider Efficiency Tools, thrive training, and rounding. Coordinates training and system access needs (Haiku, Canto, M*Modal Fluency Direct, etc.).

* Nursing and Clinical Staff Support: Provides EHR support to nursing and clinical staff as needed.

* System Changes / Upgrades: Partners with key stakeholders including Healthcare Informatics, Clinical Education, Information Services, and operational teams to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate training solutions for system changes and regular upgrades. Ensures proper communication to impacted user groups. Familiar with ADDIE and adult learning principles and can share information in a systemic approach by sequencing and chunking content.

* Project Support: Provides training expertise by participating on project teams to provide go-live support during implementation. Assess and measure training effectiveness.

* Training Sustainability: Observes physicians, APPs, nursing, and clinical staff in their respective workspaces. This includes ongoing efficiency training as well as unit/clinic rounding, elbow support, and assistance with real-time issues.

* System Training Environments: Configures and maintains the training environment for clinical systems used for new-hire training. This includes the development and maintenance of training users and patients in the training environment.

WORK EXPERIENCE

* At least 3 years of related clinical experience working in the outpatient, inpatient, surgical, and/or emergency department settings or Epic system experience within these departments or service lines (Required)

* At least 2 years of previous teaching experience (Preferred)

* Instructional design experience (Preferred)

EDUCATION

* Four-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (Required)

* Graduate or professional work or advanced degree; or equivalent experience (Preferred)

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

* Epic System Application Curriculum Certification in EpicCare Inpatient Clinical Documentation or Ambulatory (required within 12 months of hire) 1 Year (Required)

* Epic for the Clinical Informaticist Certification (Preferred)

* Epic Training Environment Build Certification (Preferred)

* Certification in Nursing Informatics (Preferred)
