Summary of Duties: The Triage Specialist conducts phone triage services for acute and chronic medical complaints. Utilizes electronic health record (EHR) for documentation of patient interactions regarding triage protocols, appointment scheduling, and prescription coordination.

Locations: Bethel Road (Columbus) & Cooper Road (Westerville Office)


Essential Functions:

  • Professionally answers all patient calls to the triage line.
  • Returns calls to all patients who leave messages on the triage line in a timely manner and provide answers to the patients' questions/concerns.
  • Gather necessary information to assist the patient and/or read office notes, chart notes, etc to provide answers to the patients.
  • Appropriately documents patient's question in the medical record.
  • Schedule appointments for patients
  • Distributes/Routes faxes, test results, referral letters, etc. as necessary.
  • Provide primary response, oversight, and support to patient calls and voicemail messages to the physician(s) and practice, including medical counsel, prescription coordination, and appointment scheduling.
  • Serve as liaison between the physician and patient in the coordination of patient care.
  • Review and maintain accurate letters for multiple physicians.
  • Chart reports for multiple physicians.
Requirements:

Skills/Experience:

· Qualified Applicant should have at least 1 year experience in a medical office environment.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills required.

· Knowledge of GE-Centricity software preferred

· Prior experience with an Electronic Health Record is required.

· Knowledge of Microsoft Office software beneficial but not required.

· Ability to operate a computer and basic office equipment.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, team-members, and other co-workers.

· Adheres to all HIPAA privacy and security regulations and guidelines.


Education: LPN or Medical Assistant certification/degree and High School Diploma or GED required.
