Our organization is seeking a Residential Driver whose role will be to deliver waste removal services to users with safety, efficiency, and courtesy. The Residential Driver will be tasked with retrieving solid waste or recyclables through curbside and/or backdoor routes, followed by transit to post-collection points. 

Principal Duties:

- Steering a residential / recycling collection, side-load or rear-load vehicle, supplemental equipment, and the hydraulic system to retrieve solid waste and/or recyclables in a predefined collection route.
- Loading solid waste, garden waste, and/or recyclables into the vehicle's rear or side.
- Employ the truck's equipment to compact collected trash.
- Adhere to given techniques when operating trucks and equipment to circumvent driver-induced mechanical faults.
- Fulfilling pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections and reporting, daily vehicle report, routing sheets, and other requested documents daily.
- Swift reportage of vehicle mechanical issues to the mechanic and supervisor.
- Maintain quality standards on routes as defined by management.

Additional Obligations:

- Maintaining stringent adherence to all safety protocols and equipment checks during all duties.
- Routinely maintain vehicle hygiene, both inside and outside.
- Identifying, tagging, and ejecting prohibited waste items from the waste cart or bin.
- Overseeing designated helper(s) when necessary.
- Strictly abiding by all applicable federal, state/provincial, local laws, regulations, and all company policies, and supervisor directives.
- Proactively wearing all required personal protective gear at all times - gloves, reflective vest, safety glasses, work boots, etc.
- Timely reporting of any accidents or incidents to supervisor.

Professionalism Standards:

- Showcasing exemplary conduct and appearance always; including when meeting customers or public while on route or in uniform.
- Keeping meticulous records of services delivered.
- Overseeing the inventory of all bins, residential carts, and available spare parts, and advising supervisor on necessary purchases.
- Working closely with supervisors to enhance routing efficiency.
- Flexibility to work beyond normal hours when required.
- Actively participate in safety and branch meetings.
- Performing other duties as called for by management.

Requirements:

- Preferably hold a high school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Commercial Driver's License is a must.
- Minimum one (1) year of commercial driving experience or a CDL school certificate.
- Must meet relevant expectations for safety-sensitive functions as per Company standards.
- Proven ability to safely steer the truck and operate equipment.

Knowledge and Abilities:

- Understanding of the truck and its components along with knowledge on basic maintenance prerequisites for safe operation.
- Must reliably operate equipment and maneuver truck into and out of tight spaces.
- Proficiency in identifying unacceptable waste – such as flammable materials like gasoline.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external customers.
- Literacy skills – the ability to read, write, and comprehend related documents and maps.
- Ability to understand and implement oral and written directives.
- Adaptability to change and driven to seek continuous improvement.
- Physical ability to lift, pull, push or carry objects repeatedly, weighing up to 50 lbs.

Physical and Mental Demand Expectations:

- Must exhibit the ability to control two or more limbs (two arms, two legs, one leg and one arm) while in a seated or standing position.
- Must comply with all company safety regulations and protocols.
- The role requires standing, walking, use of hands and fingers, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, hearing, climbing, balancing, and smelling.
- An advanced degree of visual ability required, which includes close and distance visions, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus due to constant maneuvering in highly trafficked areas.
- Regular lifting/moving of up to 10 lbs, frequent lifting/moving of up to 25 lbs, and occasional lifting/moving of up to 100 lbs are required.
- The role requires being seated up to 75% of the time, due to the primary driving function. 
- Must be tolerant to work in usually loud conditions.

Work Environment Factors:

- Frequent exposure to loud noise, humidity, rainy/stormy, extreme hot and cold weather conditions (depending on the season).
- Must work amidst moving mechanical parts, vibration, toxic and caustic chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles.
- Outdoor work environment up to 100% of the time.
- Daily functioning away from branch location throughout the working day.
- Possibly work in high precarious places.
- Constant exposure to motor vehicle traffic conditions.
- Maintaining functionality in a primarily loud work environment.
