Cleveland Clinic’s G90 Urology/Medical-Surgical Telemetry Unit is dedicated to the care of post-operative urology and overflow surgical patients and focuses on pain control, return of bowel and bladder function, DVT prevention and ambulation. Patients in this unit range in age from young adult to geriatric, however, the most common patient population is approximately 65 years old. Some of the primary procedures performed on this unit include partial nephrectomy, radical nephrectomy, radical prostatectomy, urolithiasis, and cystectomy with continent/incontinent urinary diversion. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will be responsible for providing direct nursing care, implementing and monitoring patient care plans, administering medication and treatments, assessing and coordinating patients’ discharge plans, and monitoring, recording and communicating patients’ conditions.
In this unit, you will learn, grow and develop:
Urology-specific classes are provided to caregivers periodically to help caregivers upskill and specialize.
Gain experience in treating both post-surgical and medicine overflow patients.
Learn from surgeons who are leaders in prostatectomy and laparoscopic kidney surgeries.
In this unit, caregivers also feel the impact they make on patients:
Work with patients with Stomas and urinary/nephrostomy/bladder irrigation procedures, which are life-altering.
Average length of stay for patients is about three days.
Work on teams that are pioneers in urological and kidney procedures.

Can critically think and problem solve for patients’ best interests.
