This is a hybrid remote and in-office position located in the River North area of Chicago, IL.

Position Summary

Coalfire is looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Finance team in Chicago. In this crucial role, you will have the opportunity to build personalized relationships with internal stakeholders, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, and contribute significantly to the accuracy and integrity of our financial processes. Your expertise will be instrumental in driving the month-end close process, conducting technical accounting research, and implementing and documenting policies. What You'll Do

  • Act as a key contributor in the monthly close process for accruals and SG&A expenses through preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Take ownership of the software capitalization and commission capitalization process, working collaboratively with internal business owners to ensure the accurate preparation of journal entries.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements flux analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Analyze general ledger variances and make corrective adjustments as needed.
  • Assist in external audit preparation and coordination.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business owners and FP&A, to ensure the completeness and accuracy of accruals.
  • Assist in research and revise accounting memos in response to changes in accounting standards.
  • Document existing practices and procedures to ensure their ongoing relevance and compliance.
  • Assist in managing our employee expense reimbursement tool, Chrome River
  • Assist in income tax journal entries and other business tax support
  • Ad-hoc responsibilities and projects as required.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required
  • CPA preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant accounting experience
  • Technically proficient in US GAAP (knowledge of ASC 350 and ASC 842 preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to research and interpret complex accounting issues
  • Experience with ERP systems (NetSuite highly desired), general ledger, and financial reporting
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across the department and organization
  • Critical thinker with evidence of building scale within an organization
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Advanced Excel skills
The salary range listed is a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role based on national salary averages. The actual salary offer to the successful candidate will be based on job-related education, geographic location, training, licensure and certifications and other factors. You may also be eligible to participate in annual incentive, commission, and/or recognition programs.
