Unit staffing description: Dayshift unit secretary and 2-3 PCTs depending on census. Nightshift has 2-3 PCTs depending on census.
Type of equipment: Welch Allyn dynamaps, Phillips telemetry, Phillips MP2, Pyxis, Alaris pumps, Hill-Rom beds, iMobile devices, MobiLab
Documentation system: Meditech
Patient Experience requirements: Focus on cardiac patient population, including CV surgery patients coming from ICU. Perform Q6H head-to-toe assessments, chart each one fully. Manage common PCU gtts like Dopamine, Dobutrex, Nitro, Heparin, etc.
The PCU delivers individualized care to medical, cardiac, and surgical complex patients requiring intermediate care for a variety of conditions.
Job Requirements
Requested Skill Set: Cardiac/telemetry experience, PCU and/or critical care experience.
Dress Code: Navy scrubs
Advanced skills needed: IV insertion, chest tube management, DHT insertion/management, tracheostomy experience, CVC management, EKG, Foley management, early patient mobility
Procedures performed on unit: Foley placement, IV insertion, wound vac management, DKA management, EKGs, DHT/NG placement, patient ambulation, ADLs
Schedule Information
Scheduling requirements: 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule. Self-scheduling (within reason to allow balanced staffing). May request days off as needed prior to schedule closing. Schedule will be finalized 2 weeks in advance. Can accommodate block scheduling for night shift.
Unit Specific Information
Unit Specifics: Highlighting teamwork within the unit, technology utilization like iMobile devices, MobiLab for specimen collection, and wound documentation through the wound care app on iMobile. Resources available on both day and night shifts, including experienced RNs with ICU experience.
