Position Summary

The Logistics Coordinator has responsibility for the logistic operations on their assigned project(s) to achieve timely completion and internal customer satisfaction. In addition, the Logistics Coordinator works under the Logistics Manager and is responsible for keeping the Logistics Manager accurately and thoroughly informed of the logistics status of projects, particularly regarding equipment status, mobilization and demobilization efforts, material tracking and projections, tool sourcing, performing scheduled maintenance, training team members on maintenance, and addressing problem issues. The Logistics Coordinator will report to the Logistics Manager and is responsible for specific duties as assigned. The Logistics Coordinator is a regionally assigned position with expected national travel.

Key Responsibilities

- Assist with site-specific program development and sustainment

- Assist in developing a detailed logistics material schedule, paying particular attention to high-value items (heavy equipment, installation materials). Plan the way the material will be delivered and offloaded, and coordinate with project operations accordingly.

- Review and understand material budgets and initiate material purchase orders requested by project operations such as small tools, miscellaneous supplies, equipment and understand McCarthy's yard services. Coordinate all such purchases with the Logistics Manager.

- Maintain good working relationships with national third-party logistics companies (3PL), rental equipment companies, small tooling companies, etc.

- In conjunction with McCarthy Quality, provide leadership in the quality program. Identify and encourage new methods and procedures to be implemented in logistics.

- Provide leadership in the safety and accident prevention programs. Institute and participate in safety meetings and inform the Logistics Manager of opportunities and concerns. Review solutions to correct or mitigate unsafe conditions; promptly implement corrective actions. Thoroughly review all accidents and execute corrective actions to prevent recurrences.

- Document daily logistics activities (e.g., daily logs, order requests, back charge notices, etc.).

- Assist Project Engineers in/during the delivery and offloading process. Point out items or areas which may need special attention and/or review.

- Engage the Operations team to understand the need and opportunities for logistics kits for project setup and routine operational tasks.

- Lead the on-site scheduled maintenance program and train team members on maintenance principles

- Perform just-in-time training on specialized tooling at Renewable Energy construction sites nationally

Areas of focus:

- Mobilization and Demobilization: IT & computer equipment, office furniture, trailer layout/source, temporary barriers, utilities, etc.

- Operational Support: Safety, tools, pile machines, and heavy equipment support, etc.

- Materials logistics: managing and coordinating construction material kits and prefabricated components (permanent material kitting designed by others).

- Manage vendors and McCarthy warehouse staff to build the various kits.

- Develop/implement instructions for site use and inventory management of kit contents

Program Coordination & Ongoing Execution

- Coordinate delivery and pickup of kits with project teams

- Develop and deploy training to familiarize project teams in the use of all site kits

- Program Continuous Improvement & Leadership

- Regularly update and improve the program using input from the operational team.

Qualifications

- 2+ years logistical operations

- Experience with construction planning

- Ability to read and interpret design/construction drawings

- Experience using CAD systems or 3D modeling platforms is a plus

- Management & leadership experience

- Drivers license

- Good communication skills

- Good planning and program development skills

- Intermediate level maintenance skills
