This is a new unit that they opening to help funnel more high acuity PCU level patients to
Experience or 'Must have' skills: PCU/ Stepdown experience OR Tele experience with cardiac gtt experience
Prefer: post procedural experience
Common diagnoses/Types of patients: Post Surgical with a Cardiac Focus; Post 24 CABG, CB Surgery post CCU, IMCU overflow, High acuity Resp, Post Cath, Post Pacemaker, and some overflow
This unit is on the same floor as the Tele and Neuro Tele units, which they will work closely with
Additional Notes: This is a newly opening unit (08/2024) with a focus on higher acuity PCU patients
Job Requirements
Must Have: PCU/ Stepdown experience OR Tele experience with cardiac gtt experience
Are RNs required to titrate drips? Non-tritratable cardiac gtts
Patient will not be allowed to have more than 2 cardiac gtts running at once
RNs must be able to read and interpret tele strips and document it appropriately
Schedule Information
Shifts & Scheduling (Do you allow self-scheduling? Block scheduling?): 7-7, Self scheduling, schedule is not finalized until it has been balanced, travelers asked to stay flexible and fill gaps in permanent staffing
Weekend Requirements: 4-6 weekend shifts in a 6 week period
Holiday Requirements: May be asked to go in the Holiday Rotation
Is there call or a standby requirement? Yes, may be asked to go on standby
Unit Specific Information
# Beds: 12-16 Beds
Nurse:Patient Ratios: 1:4 for days and nights
Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Set Rate: Amio, cardizem, dobutamine, dopamine, miltinone, and heparin
Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: PCTs- 1 for unit
Job Duties: Vitals, Accuchecks, assisting with ADLs, answering call lights, hourly rounding, and more
Virtual Care Nurses to assist with cares
RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): RT available to assist in managing RT equipment and resp treatments
Can take some hospital initiated High Flow, Cpap, Bipap, and/or Airvo/Optiflow
Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? Centralized Tele Monitoring
Scrub Color/Dress code: Navy Blue
Additional Details
RN must pass the Basic Dysrhythmia (83%) before signing the contract. They will be given three attempts to pass

Charge Nurse/House Supervisor? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? Charge will oversees Neuro and PCU (Total of 31 beds), Will not take patient assignment unless necessary, but will have a capped ratio
This unit is on the same floor as the Tele and Neuro Tele units, which they will work closely with
There will be 2 Charge nurses between the 3 units; they utilize a lot of teamwork between the units on this floor to ensure RNs have a resource and feel supported
