Restaurant Shift Leader - Up to $21.04 / hour


Job Role: The Shift Leader's role is fundamental in ensuring all quality and safety benchmarks are fulfilled while guiding and coaching the team to deliver superior service. The individual in this role is responsible for supervising daily operations, addressing conflicts, and keeping team members responsible for their roles.

Duties:

- Consistently meet safety and quality standards.
- Confirm that team members are complying with hygiene best practices.
- Regularly perform food safety inspections.
- Resolve conflicts among team members and act as an exemplary figure.
- Ensure team members fulfil their individual responsibilities in "Own your zone" tasks.
- Conduct routine checks to ensure tasks are being done effectively.
- Review station charts to confirm team members occupy correct positions.
- Implement back-of-house (BOH) shift switch protocols.
- Carry out an evaluation of each zone.
- Schedule and assign breaks for team members.
- Share daily objectives and utilise the SWS form.
- Confirm the kitchen and back-of-house areas are maintained clean.

Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities Required:

- Minimum one year of supervisory experience in a food service or retail environment, with responsibilities including profit & loss management, scheduling, and team member development.
- Strong leadership abilities to guide and mentor team members.
- Capability to resolve disputes and foster a positive working environment.
- Proficiency in holding team members responsible and ensure efficient task completion.
- Awareness of safety and quality standards in the food service industry.
- Capacity to perform food safety inspections and enforce compliance to standards.
- Sharp organisational skills for facilitating shift changes and zone evaluations.
- Competence in reviewing station charts and effectively planning team member breaks.

Physical Demands of the Job:

- Ability to tolerate temperatures below freezing or exceeding 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Ability to maintain mobility around the restaurant for long durations (up to 10-12 hours daily).
- Ability to move weights up to 50 lbs. across distances of 10 feet.
- Capability to balance and move items weighing up to 25 lbs. across distances up to 50 feet.
- Ability to comprehend and respond to team member and customer demands in a noisy environment.
- Physical activities involved include standing, walking, sitting, using hands and fingers, reaching, climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
- Required vision abilities entail close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Ability to talk, hear, taste, and smell.

Benefits:

- Eligibility for a 401K plan after 1 year of service and 1,000 hours worked. Participants must be at least 21 years old.
