Position Overview

This position will review local sales and use tax data to verify accuracy and identify opportunities for client revenue recovery or enhancement. This position also conducts field canvasses when onboarding new clients. This is a direct revenue generating position reporting to the Senior Audit Services Supervisor.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Independently analyzes California Department of Tax & Fee Administration (CDTFA) registration data to confirm that it accurately reflects where companies are operating and/or engaging in taxable sales activity
  • Cross-references data from a variety of sources, including (but not limited to) city business license files, telephone directories, individual company websites, business journals, Yelp and Google
  • Compare & analyzes large data sets to isolate opportunities for revenue recovery
  • Perform initial research of discrepancies to further refine potential lead lists
  • Performs field canvasses of all commercial areas within the boundaries of a client agency to obtain an accurate, real-time inventory or local business activity
  • Documents research and findings within company’s proprietary software applications

Qualifications

  • Strong research & analytical skills; ability to identify relevant trends, anomalies, & opportunities within large datasets with a very high degree of accuracy and attention to detail

  • Focus and determination, ability to review large volumes of data and to meet or exceed weekly productivity targets with minimal supervision

  • Skill to use a variety of software programs, including HdL sales & property tax applications, Internet browsing & Microsoft Excel

  • Clean DMV, reliable car, current proof of insurance

  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and a commitment to team and company-wide goals & objectives

Education and Experience

  • High school Diploma
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required

Compensation

The starting base salary for this Brea, CA position is expected to be between $23.00 to $26.00 /per hour. Actual salary will be determined based on skills, experience (to the extent relevant) and other job-related factors, consistent with applicable law.
