The Market Intelligence Manager is an integral member of the firm’s Marketing & Business Development (MBD) team, with responsibility for monitoring, collecting, organizing, analyzing, and reporting on information about the firm’s competitors, market, and affiliations in support of strategic decisions that impact many facets of the business. As detailed below, this role involves three core areas: 1) conducting reputational reviews of potential affiliated experts; 2) monitoring online coverage of the firm and key constituents; and 3) tracking developments involving our industry and associated competitors.

This role will provide actionable information on our competition and market for growth strategy planning. They will collaborate with stakeholders within the MBD department, across admin departments, and with senior members of the firm to address key initiatives that may be informed by these market and competitor insights.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Reputational review and vetting of new and existing affiliated individuals.
    • Review potential relationships with external experts for reputational risk, including related online/social media activities.
    • Regularly monitor the online reputation for select individuals associated with the firm.
  • Reputation and market monitoring
    • Monitor, analyze, and report on media coverage, public sentiment, and discussion boards where the firm or its people are discussed, and flag potential reputation risks.
    • Analyze data from various sources, including surveys/rankings, social media, and media coverage, to assess reputation trends.
  • Competitor awareness
    • Collect, record, and analyze market and competitor-specific data with the aim of identifying actionable insights and emerging trends.
    • Curate industry-specific news, competitor announcements, market/industry research.
    • Work collaboratively with the team to build a competitive insights program; capture and maintain this information in a systematic way that can be consulted and/or leveraged at a later date, as needed.
    • Interact with key internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and develop the appropriate competitive insights to address them.
    • Present detailed analyses and summaries of results, interpret data, and share implications of this research/analysis with key stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • An ideal candidate will have 7-10 years of experience in a competitive/market intelligence, reputation management, or complementary field.
  • Prior experience in professional services environment highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information; ability to distill data, crystalize insights and make recommendations based on analysis.
  • Proficiency in using media monitoring and social media management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly and persuasively.
  • Ability to organize, plan and work on multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize work, meet deadlines, and be flexible in order to respond to shifting demands.
  • Adaptable and open to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Accuracy, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability are critical.
