Clinical Lab Assistant - Core Laboratory Swing Shift About the Role: The Clinical Laboratory Assistant performs a variety of clerical and technical duties under general supervision, reporting to a Laboratory Supervisor or Manager. Responsibilities include receiving, accessioning, centrifuging, and decanting patient specimens, as well as communicating with clinicians. Key Responsibilities: - Visitor Interaction: Greets and assists visitors at the Front Window. - Sample Management: - Reception: Sorts, prioritizes, and receives patient specimens. - Accessioning: Enters patient information accurately into the computer and labels specimens. - Processing: Operates automated sample processing instrumentation and transfers samples. - Communication: Responds to telephone inquiries and processes add-on requests. - Documentation: Faxes reports, sorts, and files requisitions, and follows department protocols. - Safety and Cleanliness: Maintains a safe and clean working environment. Qualifications: - Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. - Experience: Previous laboratory, healthcare, or customer service experience preferred. - Skills: - Interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction. - Ability to multitask and work accurately under stress. - Attention to detail, manual dexterity, and visual accuracy. - Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Windows. - English language proficiency for communication. Working Conditions: - Clinical laboratory environment handling potentially biohazardous body fluid samples. - Hectic or stressful work environment at times. - Prolonged periods of sitting or standing, with occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
