Summary of position:
The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children's Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy.
The Manville School, a highly successful and reputable educational program, is seeking an Assistant Teacher for the upcoming school year. As a member of a three-person, multidisciplinary classroom team, the Assistant Teacher supports implementation of lessons and carries out curriculum instruction, tailored to meet students' specific learning needs/behavioral profiles. The Assistant Teacher will actively participate in academic instruction and classroom management, while learning and applying effective evidence-based behavior management techniques. Partake in exceptional training and receive mentoring by an experienced Educational Coordinator and a Mentor Special Education Teacher, both of whom ensure the Assistant Teacher is highly successful! The Assistant Teacher will participate in weekly meetings with a collaborative multi-disciplinary team, while engaging in professional development opportunities that will prepare you to work in a school setting as a special education teacher or mental health professional.

Essential duties:
  • Implement unit and lesson plans following the students' IEP goals and objectives with supervision by the lead Special Education Teacher.
  • In conjunction with the classroom team (lead teacher and behavior support personnel), develop and implement classroom behavior management plan appropriate to the age and social/emotional levels of students.
  • Foster positive self-esteem and social growth of students through appropriate curriculum and behavioral structure.
  • Create and maintain a respectful classroom culture that fosters safe and productive learning.
  • Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in education or a related field is required.
Experience:
  • Experience working with children/students with special needs, preferably in a classroom setting.

License/Certification: Not required
Salary: Initial salary range of $42,570 - $52,030, depending on knowledge and experience
