Summary of position:
The Baker Center for Children and Families (also known as Judge Baker Children's Center), promotes the best possible mental health of children and families through the integration of research, intervention, training, and policy.
The Manville School seeks a full-time Visual Arts teacher to create and implement a comprehensive art program for K-10 students with complex learning and social-emotional challenges. Manville's Visual Arts teacher works collaboratively with team members across disciplines to provide students with opportunities for self-expression and social skill development in the art classroom and in elective offerings.

Essential duties:
  • Responsible for establishing a safe, organized, and culturally responsive classroom environment.
  • Ensures that the school's K–10 visual arts program is aligned with the MA Arts Framework.
  • Maintains a structured, yet flexible and responsive learning environment; incorporates principles of TAB-choice based pedagogy.
  • Uses a variety of instructional techniques and media.
  • Plans and orchestrates weekly Arts Electives that incorporate student interests and opportunities for peer collaboration.
  • Supports the school's integrated team model through professional communication and collaboration.
Qualifications
Education:
  • Bachelors required, with corresponding MA teaching certification
Experience:
  • 1 year teaching in a school setting required or 3+ years of related experience with a similar population.

Logistics
License/Certification: Teaching Certification or eligibility for DOE waiver, required.
Salary: $75,000 - $90,000
