We are seeking an Electrical and Controls Engineer for our Biddeford, Maine location who will be responsible for planning and leading multidisciplinary teams in the capture of American Rheinmetall Systems’ priority new business opportunities. The Electrical and Controls Engineer is responsible for the development and support of electronic components for both current and future ARS products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the electrical design and development of new products including the development of ECAD models and manufacturing drawings
  • Lead the specification and implementation of electronic and embedded system hardware and software
  • Lead the control system design and specification of servo based systems
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary development team including mechanical, software and systems engineers
  • Participate in product testing and qualification efforts
  • Identify equipment and materials needed for production and product testing
  • Design, prototype, test, and implement new manufacturing processes and recommend current process improvements
  • Review applicable non-conformance reports and identify solutions to resolve issues as part of corrective / preventive action process
  • Support and adhere to all safety and environmental regulations & policies
  • Collaborate with other Rheinmetall sites and operations around the world
  • Support the VP Engineering by performing other assigned duties

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education/Experience

  • B.S. Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical experience
  • 1+ years’ experience in design and/or manufacturing environments

Background Prerequisites

Must undergo and meet company standards for background check, employment verification, reference checks and controlled substance testing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (as demonstrated through experience, training and/or testing)

  • Strong ECAD knowledge and experience
  • Experience with MATLAB®/SIMULINK® or comparable control system environments
  • Experience with C/C++ or equivalent programming for embedded systems
  • Working knowledge of product life cycle management
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Knowledge of defense and/or commercial electronic circuitry and applicable build standards
  • Ability to work closely with manufacturing personnel at all levels
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or similar quality management standard
  • Motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to work well in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain government security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • M.S. degree
  • Altium® experience
  • MATLAB®/Simulink® experience is highly preferred
  • Experience with US Department of Defense contracts and requirements is highly preferred

  • May be exposed to or required to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • May be required to move boxes or materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Must be able to maintain a stationary position (sitting) 75% of time
  • Must be able to move about inside the office to access materials, supplies and office machinery
  • Ability to travel domestically or internationally as required (20%)
