The Registered Nurse provides direction to Licensed Vocational Nurses and non-licensed nursing personnel in providing direct patient care. The Registered Nurse supports the medical care of patients under the direction of the Medical Staff pursuant to the mission and objectives of the Hospital and ANA Standards of PracticeEssential Job DutiesReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.* As part of a recovery oriented treatment team provides individualized, goal-directed, nursing care by performing comprehensive nursing assessments regarding the health status of the patient, making nursing diagnoses that serve as the basis for the strategy of care, developing a plan of care based on the assessment and nursing diagnosis, implementing nursing care, and evaluating the patient's responses to nursing interventions.* Delegate tasks to unlicensed personnel that take into consideration patient safety, staff safety, and experience and knowledge of staff.* Knows the rationale for and the effects of medications, including psychoactive medications, and shall correctly administer said medications.* Maintains required documentation of patient care and unit activities in accordance with standards.* Clarify any order or treatment regimen that the nurse has reason to believe is inaccurate, non-efficacious or contraindicated by consulting with the appropriate licensed practitioner and notifying the ordering practitioner when the nurse makes the decision not to administer the medication or treatment.* Performs daily nursing groups as directed by the treatment team.Required Education and ExperienceGraduate of an accredited nursing programRequired License/CertificationsCurrent RN license in the State of TexasBLS certificationUnit specific competencies obtained within six months of hire
