Responsibilities

The Regional Field Safety Coordinator supports all field related safety needs for covered region(s) to include field safety observations, field re-training/coaching, work site inspection/audit, field policy and field level operational support as needed. This role reports to and informs the Regional Safety Manager or Sr. Safety Specialist of safety related matters and support needs.

  • Primary Duties:

    • Demonstrates the Company’s vision and mission, while successfully performing its core values related to People, Integrity and Ethics, Excellence in Service, Safety, and Community.
    • Establish ongoing and frequent safety presence at project locations by conducting scheduled and unannounced project site visit for conducting field observations and audits.
    • Establish ongoing and frequent safety presence by hosting project specific kicking off safety meetings
    • Establish ongoing and frequent safety presence at project locations by attending client project safety meetings
    • Travel to and work from project field offices are regular intervals where applicable.
    • Travel to field locations daily to engage directly with field personnel during the normal course and scope of their work (observe them while they are working).
    • Travel to field locations to deliver safety related training as needed and/or as directed by the Area Sr. Safety Specialist, Regional Safety Manager or Safety Director.
    • Assist with pre-project planning as requested by the Sr. Safety Specialist, Regional Safety Manager or Safety Director.
    • Participate in safety updates, department meetings, learning teams, and other meetings as requested or required.
    • Perform all other duties as directed by the Sr. Safety Specialist, Regional Safety Manager or Safety Director.

    Accountability:

    • Take responsibility for activities and actions of field crews in covered area(s).
    • Monitor metrics related to compliance with employee engagement for the area (safety meetings, field observations, audits/reviews, etc.)
    • Train employees as required by internal or external requirements as directed by the Sr. Safety Specialist or Regional Safety Manager (FSO, Driver training, task-specific, industry specific, etc.)
    • Hold yourself to the highest level of ethical behavior and decision making.
    • Be responsive and timely in your duties.
    • Meet or exceed self-imposed or established timelines on projects and initiatives.
    • Maintain an approximate ratio of 90% direct field engagement and 10% office operational engagement.
    • Clearly communicate in advance or as situations arise when you will not be readily available or actively working.
    • Work within the generally practiced hours of operations for your covered region (typically between the hours of 06:00 AM and 18:00 PM (time zone specific).
    • Work efficiently and effectively, managing your workload to the best of your ability to achieve maximum benefit to the organization for your time.
    • Efficiently and effectively manage your travel to the best of your ability to achieve maximum benefit to the organization for your time.
    • This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications
  • Survey/SUE or related field services experience (10+ years)
  • Experience with SAM Safety (or similar organization) requirements and documentation processes (2+ years)
  • SAM Field Tech II or III (2+ years) or similar experience leading work crews as crew lead, foreman, etc.
  • Certified Safety and Health Official (CSHO) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) -OR- or willingness to work toward
