Overview

For over thirty years, SAM has built a reputation as a trusted, knowledgeable, and innovative partner. Our licensed professionals transform petabytes of complex spatial data into intelligent insights in a holistic Managed Geospatial Services™ (MGS™) framework. As North America's premiere MGS™ company, SAM provides practical, precise, and high-fidelity solutions designed to enhance decision-making, mitigate risks, achieve strategic objectives, and drive costs out of our client's business. Our vision is to advance spatial data acquisition, improve analysis capabilities, and develop predictive analytics to redefine and transform how infrastructure assets are developed and managed throughout their lifecycles.

Responsibilities

The director of digital consulting is a customer facing management position with expectations of being a “seller/doer”. The ideal candidate will be able to lead enterprise level programs, acting as an advocate for SAM and our clients. They will have built expert level skills in the following: GIS, Esri technology, Esri UN and utility connectivity models, asset lifecycle, and business processes.

They are also expected to build, manage, and mentor a team of highly skilled professional services and consulting resources and become the face of SAM at select industry and vendor events.

Leadership and Strategy

  • Execute and build upon SAM leadership’s existing vision
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance in the development of innovative solutions for utility clients.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Act as the company Subject Matter Expert for everything Esri Utility Network, Portal, and Spatial Data.

Team Building and Management

  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a team of skilled professionals, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
  • Implement effective training and development programs to enhance team capabilities
  • Manage team resources, workload, and performance to achieve project goals and client satisfaction.

Consultative Sales

  • Identify and pursue new Digital Enterprise Modernization consulting opportunities, building on the company’s already strong presence in the utility and other sectors

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, partners, and industry influencers.
  • Strategically develop and deliver compelling proposals and presentations to secure new projects and partnerships.

Innovation and Thought Leadership

  • Stay abreast of the industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to drive innovation within the practice.
  • Represent the company at industry conferences, seminars, and workshops, sharing insights and establishing SAM as a thought leader in this space.
  • Represent the Digital Consulting team with and across SAM companies, driving collaboration and buy in to a consultative program model rather than a project model.

Program Delivery

  • Work with clients to define an enterprise vision and then ensure the SAM system integration team delivers that vision. This requires allocation to the program from start to finish. However, as more programs are sold, time must be split across all accounts.
  • Create ways to ensure project implementations are repeatable and scalable.
  • Implement best practices and execution structures to ensure high-quality outcomes which can be repeated.
  • Oversee the successful delivery of digital implementation projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, STEM, GIS, or similar field
  • Strong utility enterprise technology background
  • Strong technical expertise with the Esri technology suite
  • Experience leading large scale programs
