Summary: Maintains day-to-day collections procedures. Collects and controls loan accounts in all phases of delinquency, adhering to procedures established by Austin Telco Federal Credit Union.


Compensation:

The range is between $41,000 -$45,000.

Schedule:

Applicants for this position must be available to work in person Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Must effectively carry out the essential duties and responsibilities of this position in a manner that consistently demonstrates Austin Telco's mission and culture in a positive manner. Other duties may be assigned. Included, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Maintains consistent daily follow-up of all past due and delinquent accounts.
  • Utilizes telephone and email contact with members as pertains to their delinquent accounts.
  • Counsels members on the importance of maintaining a good credit rating.
  • Researches delinquent accounts for posting errors and corrects errors.
  • Refers and/or confers with Director of Collections/Senior Collector (daily) on any problem accounts.
  • Maintains files, prepares collections and/or mails letters of late payments on accounts.
  • Obtains credit reports as required.
  • Maintains liaison with loan officers to apprise them of pertinent information.
  • Submits updated/corrected credit information to credit bureau.
  • Processes repossessions, bankruptcies, charge-offs, and Collateral Protection Insurance as assigned/needed.
  • Performs clerical duties and daily mail.
  • Uses cross-selling to inform all members of all credit union services available to them at every possible opportunity.
  • Attends all training sessions as assigned.
  • Completes documentation for loan extension and collection refinances.
  • Processes loans as assigned or needed.
  • Processes towing notifications and act accordingly.
  • Processes Comptroller freezes, Attorney General freezes, garnishments, tax liens, IRS levies, HOA past due assessments, receiver's orders, and temporary injunctions.
  • Prepares charge-off and trustee check payments for posting.
  • Prepares loan documents for scanning.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years of collections experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of laws regarding repossessions, collections, and bankruptcy is required.
  • Preferred: Bilingual in English and Spanish

Good credit standing is also required and will be verified during the pre-employment stage. Once a contingent job offer is made, a criminal background check and drug screening will be completed.
