Highly successful, Albany manufacturing company who has been in business for over 45 years is looking for a Vice-President of Sales and Marketing.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct Sales and Marketing efforts across all markets to ensure in alignment with corporate vision and revenue forecast.
  • Provide leadership and communication of essential sales strategies and threats (internal and external) through position on company executive team.
  • Determine annual, quarterly and monthly sales objectives and take ownership/accountability in driving sales goals. Demand accountability of individual market managers and business development personnel in meeting objectives (activity and revenue).
  • Provide vision and leadership to company’s Strategic Growth Initiative to ensure adequate pipeline of opportunities to keep company growth trajectory healthy.
  • Determine requirements for annual budget for Sales and Marketing departments, and monitor ongoing through the fiscal year, ensuring expenses remain within plan (or below should business conditions require).
  • Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships.
  • Effectively understand and communicate value proposition through technical presentations and proposals, across all markets.
  • Determine market value of new products launched. Ongoing review of pricing and gross margin of products; understanding trends and competitive threats.
  • Monitor competitor products, sales and market activities.
  • Communicate flow of progress, problems, and opportunity data to President and CEO.
  • Review organizational structure of Sales & Marketing groups to ensure it meets growing needs. Recruit, select, train and provide orientation process to new department employees.
  • Work effectively with Marketing personnel in establishing Marketing strategies and branding initiatives; maintain ROI measurements and objectives of such
  • Communicate Sales & Marketing activities to other department managers and coordinate activities to align with goals.
  • Coordinate personnel incentives with President and CEO for development of sales volume at desired margins.

  • Strong understanding of company products, markets and applications; and incorporating those into a repeatable value proposition(s)
  • Strong leadership and communication skills required, establishing and maintaining an open and positive culture internal among the teams managed, and external throughout the organization and into market space.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required
  • Technical understanding of ceramic material properties and dimensional/mechanical opportunities and limitations
  • Ability to plan annual operating budgets and adhere to such.
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within the department and interdepartmentally, from the plant floor to the Board room

Travel 

  • Regular domestic and international travel to customers, trade shows and conferences will be required. Occasional supplier travel will be required.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business or engineering discipline.
  • 5+ years experience in Business Development/Engineering management environment.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A team player and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Detail-oriented and highly motivated individual.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and stressful situations
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.

Preferred Education and Experience 

  • Advanced college degree in business or engineering discipline.
  • 10+ years experience in engineering and manufacturing environment.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks.
  • Good computer skills.
  • A team player and ability to work collaboratively.
