Job Description

Primary Purpose:
Responsible for the integration of NS business processes and applications to support Train Control initiatives.
Establish and perform business and performance analysis for Advanced Train Control systems including Positive Train Control (PTC), Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), and Energy Management (EM).
Promote business and application changes to improve data consistency, completeness, and accuracy.
Design proactive monitoring and reporting for assets and components supporting Train Control systems.
Principal Duties:
Provides strategic input regarding enhancements and new development that may affect the Train Control systems.
Works with NS resources to innovate, streamline and improve NS transportation, engineering, information technology and ATC applications and systems interfacing with Train Control systems.
Ensures accurate NS Train Control performance reporting to FRA on a regular basis
Exhibits a high level of knowledge of PTC, EM, signaling, CAD and NS transportation functions and interfaces
Maintains knowledge of system requirements, interfaces and hazards to shape industry and vendor-driven enhancements
Represents NS interests to industry-level Interoperable Train Control (ITC) teams and MxV research projects involving Train Control systems evolution
Team lead for the following processes:
PTC research and systems engineering, including design coordination and technology development
System availability & reliability
Systems management
Business continuity
PTC business intelligence, reports and dashboards
FRA performance reporting data
Cultivates collaborative relationships with inter-departmental teams, vendors, and Class I railroads to leverage shared knowledge
Inclusively manages a team and is responsible for their development, productivity and performance
Job Related Experience:
Minimum Level: 2-3 years
Preferred Level: 3-7+ years
Education:
Preferred Level: Bachelor's Degree (BS)
Preferred Majors: Engineering, Business Information Technology

Technical Skills:
MS Office 365 including Visio
SQL
Technical Writing
Spotfire, Power BI, Tableau, or other data visualization tools
Agile Project Management Software
Knowledge of NS Operating Rules and Practices
Knowledge of System Safety and Hazard Analysis
Knowledge of train operations, train reporting and corresponding systems
Knowledge of dispatch system functionality and corresponding systems
Knowledge of AAR PTC standards and FRA PTC regulation
Knowledge of Enterprise GIS database
