Job PurposeSeveral strategic and business-critical development initiatives are underway to developand extend our complex Fixed Income and Equity analytics using the latest technologies. We are also committed to leveraging the best practices in Object Oriented and Database Design and Development in this endeavor. To support rapid development, we continue to invest in developing the highest level of code quality and comprehensive test coverage. The Oracle 19 relational database system forms the foundation of our data and models.The Lead Database Developer will play a key role in designing and developing the new platform to support our growth business in fixed income portfolio analytics. The platform is architected as a distributed system of services to manage data intensive computations of fixed income analytics across a large compute farm. We leverage the best-in-breed software, messaging systems, Oracle database tools, and development practices in a Java-centric environment.ResponsibilitiesLead a small team of developers on project efforts using an Agile development methodologyCollaborate with key business and technology stakeholders to define functional and technical design.Work closely with software engineering team and senior leadership to design and implement data solutions.Develop technical specifications for physical relational data models on Oracle database that demonstrate a keen awareness of RDBMS design principles and performance-tuning.Design data models, implement PLSQL procedures on Oracle 19 databases.Develop, maintain and support the data used by our systemsWork with the development team to tailor the design and implement in Oracle for efficient access from Java.Triage, diagnose and remediate system and performance issues in a timely mannerLead and/or participate in project efforts using an Agile development methodology.Be a trusted expert in loading large volumes of data in an efficient manner.Develop system and training documentation as needed.Must be able to work flexible hours as needed to support project timelines and deliver efforts on time.Provide technical support or provide subject matter expertise to other team members as needed.Knowledge and Experience7+ years of applied work experience as a database developer on OracleEnthusiastic advocate and expert in modern full software development lifecycle practicesMust be devoted to delivering quality and well-tested solutionsExcellent written and verbal communication skills.Good experience developing solutions for both Linux and Windows.Comprehensive knowledge of Oracle 19 functionality: physical table design, normal forms, data partitions, integrity constraints, indexing strategies, performance tuning, execution plans, PLSQL and stored procedures, database monitoring tools, locking, deadlock detection and resolutionDemonstrated experience in the development and automation of ETL processes for data loading and extractionMust be proficient in scripting languages.
